Retirees
MUST Retiree Benefits
When you retire you are entitled to continue your MUST health coverage through the group’s plan as long as (1) you have coverage in place prior to retirement and (2) the group retains MUST coverage. You must meet eligibility requirements and, if you choose to continue coverage, you will probably be responsible for paying the premiums.
Common questions are answered in our Retiree Brochure.
Medicare Advantage
MUST now offers an alternative coverage program to qualifying Medicare-eligible retirees. The Medicare Advantage program, offered in partnership with New West Health Services, provides full benefits coverage equivalent to the current MUST plan without deductible (it uses a co-payment system), along with a full prescription plan, at rates considerably lower than MUST’s current rates for Medicare-qualified participants.
The New West Medicare Advantage plan will cost eligible retirees $155 per month. Most MUST retiree plans, excluding the Basic and High Deductible Health Plans, are approximately $300 per month.
This plan offers value to MUST’s retiree population (from the cost and benefits perspective), to member groups, and to MUST (by controlling healthcare costs of the retiree population). New West can offer this plan because of a unique arrangement it has with Medicare, which is to say that Medicare pays New West to assume its responsibilities for services to Medicare-eligible participants. As a result, all of the services needed by Medicare-eligible members are provided under a single plan that is more manageable and understandable to members.
